A video series from Taller Stories, asking people to write letters to their younger selves.
Dear Cameron,
So, 10 year old me huh?… You probably still have that Jordan jersey on that took a couple years to grow into.
Ever since Mom handed you that basketball, that was it. Outside. Everyday. Just trying to be better.
It upset you that you that the other kids were taller and you didn’t always get picked for the team but you kept going regardless. I can tell you now that’s important... perseverance.
Because as a kid, nobody... NOBODY ever told you you can’t do anything. Everything is possible they say.. When you’re older people will think differently. They call it a reality check. So this is a letter to remind you to listen to others but it’ll be you who calls the shots in YOUR life.
There’ll come a time where that dream of playing in the NBA is not going to materialise. It’ll be devastating at the time but trust, things get better.
One day you’ll travel across the world all on your own to chase a new experience so pack a jersey just in case. Onto the next.
